The following guidelines outline the expectations and actions for members of Strategy Island. The founding purpose of our community is peer collaboration, learning, and professional growth among strategists. By participating in this community, you agree to the principles below:
Community Guidelines
-
Peers, not rivals
Our virtual walls are here to invite collaboration, not competition. Treat all community members as friends, conduct yourself as so through empathy, lightheartedness, and trustworthiness, and acknowledge and respect others who may see things differently than you. Be considerate of diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. Foster an inclusive environment that encourages and values the contributions of all members.
-
Respect the commitment
We are a small, tight-knit group so everyone’s active participation is important. We ask for everyone to commit an average of one hour per week to group questions, feedback, sharing, or other types of collaboration. Unless agreed upon in advance, if you are not contributing to our community for a period of 2 months, you will be excused from the community. This is to ensure that only active members are involved and to ensure that the community is equally valuable to everyone.
-
Participation and feedback
Curiosity is key. Share your knowledge, insights, and experiences with the community to promote learning and professional development. Be open to receiving feedback that’s delivered in a respectful way. Encourage open and constructive discussions, debates, and critiques, focusing on the work. Give everyone airtime to participate and provide feedback, whether via Slack or video chat. Avoid any discriminatory or offensive language, behavior, or content related to race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, or any other personal attribute.
-
Build trust and rapport
Respect the confidentiality of any sensitive information shared within the community. Any work shared here is exclusively for our members. Avoid sharing it outside the community. Many strategy processes are proprietary, so permission is advised before using someone else’s IP in your own work. Additionally, members are prohibited from engaging in any form of sales or solicitation within the community or its clients.
-
Safety standards
We created this community as a safe space for us to connect and learn together. Help maintain a safe and supportive environment by alerting the moderators to any behavior that threatens the well-being or safety of community members and/or reporting behavior that goes against these guidelines. Do not engage in harassment, stalking, or any form of harmful behavior within the community.
-
Easy exit
If at any point your commitment to this community no longer matches your goals or availability, that’s absolutely OK! We appreciate the time and contributions you’ve given. Just let us know!
Failure to comply with this code of conduct may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the community, at the discretion of the community moderators. We reserve the right to enforce these guidelines and make decisions based on the best interests of the community as a whole.
